The problem with having cats is not just being harassed every time you get close to the refrigerator, it's the litter box. It is having to deal with smell of cat excrement and that smell sometimes permeates the whole house.
Our solution is an accessory unit attached to your covered litter box. Our unit plugs in and a tube extends into the interior of your covered litter box. This unit extracts stinky air from inside the litter box, filters it and releases it back into the room. The air released is actually filtered of odor.
We sold this technology previously, as the KITTYCAN and would challenge trade show participants to a sniff test. The challenge was to correctly identify what substance was in the coffee can. When they could not detect the substance we would let them sniff the inside of our litter box. Then they would get the gagging scent of pungent Limburger cheese.
Also being a cat family, we have a litter box next to our dining room table- no smell. If it did smell we would banish the litter box to somewhere less obtrusive. We are not weird, we just set it there for convenience and have not seen a need to move it.
SmellyCat3 utilizes the tried and true filtration media, Carbon and Zeolite. These two are somehow quite magic in their ability to scavenge odors. We simply harness the power of these two filtration media to where it really counts- the litter box.
Our unit uses a fan to move the air from your enclosed litter box and through the filter media and then back into the room. This constant moving the air has other benefits too.
Scooping the litter box is everyone else's job. But when you are the one that has to do it- we have you covered. The SmellyCat3 has a drying effect on the solids. This means that when you open the litter box and expect to be gagging, you will be pleasantly surprised. The drying and skinning over of the solids has an actual odor reduction quality. My wife says, it is still stinky town but not as bad as it usually is. I don't think it is near as bad.
A great problem to have in not being pummeled by a wall of stink every time kitty goes a scratching is having to scoop less. It is true, using our unit will allow less total cleanings over time. Just think what you would do with the time you save not scooping. You could tell all your friends about the SmellyCat3 or solve world hunger.
Be forewarned, not having to smell the scat means, at some point kitty will have to alert you to the less than ideal situation in the covered litter box. Yes, they will find a facility that does not require cleaning their paws so much. Don't be that guy- scoop, scoop, scoop. But you do get to scoop less.
One can continue to use the expensive litter, which is why our unit is not in all stores. A huge pet products provider told us, our invention was great but hoped it never came to market. Most of their revenue was expensive kitty litter. They said our unit would destroy their revenues.
So you can use cheap litter if you want. Just don't use anything that would cause much dust, as that might clog the carbon and zeolite media a bit, and require a shake.
In our house, we use clumping litter because it is easy to scoop. Nothing with chemical smells to great success.
